Launched in 2008 The Shakespeare Association (India) aims at carrying out literary activities of interpreting, translating, performing Shakespeare’s work, in order to sensitize teachers of English in universities and colleges to the best that is known and thought in the world about the bard’s plays and poems, as also to provide opportunities of bringing new perspectives to his work through deliberations by organizing seminars and symposia. It is with all this in view that The Association organizes at least one international and two or three national-level seminars every year. While the First Seminar at M.D. University, Rohtak (Haryana) held in October 2009, focused on “Shakespeare as Critic: Literary, Social, Political,” the second held in September 2010 in collaboration with MCMDAV College for Women, Chandigarh, is to deliberate on “Scholars in Shakespeare: A Postmodern Scrutiny.”
